| RBFC Clients learn effective methods to defeat REAL attacks! |
|
By simulating actual attack scenarios, RBFC clients become familiar with all the elements involved in real attacks. You understand the effects of adrenaline and fear, and know how to deal with them. You gain skill quickly, since you're practicing EXACTLY what you need to do. You then leave the training without lingering doubts as to your ability! Please refer to the references section of the site to read what female clients have to say.

The RBFC Self-Defense for Women program provides the physical skills and tactics which will enable you to escape a violent confrontation. The use of verbal tactics to defuse a situation, or to assist in physical techniques, plays an important role in providing valuable options to deal with various threats. The confidence gained through your training allows you to set clear "boundaries" which help you determine your tolerance limits for inappropriate or aggressive behavior by others. You will become very aware of your personal "comfort zone", which will allow you to prepare yourself for trouble in advance. Since women are not attacked in the same way(s) as men, you will learn exactly HOW women are attacked, and quickly gain proficiency in effective responses to those attacks. Also discussed are the use of everyday objects as weapons. You will also learn several "sneaky" and tricky tactics which will add to the effectiveness of your physical arsenal.

RBFC has developed a special curriculum for young women which focuses on the threat of date/acquaintance rape. A comprehensive spectrum of information, verbal tactics, and physical self-defense skills is presented in an easy-to-digest format. Young women typically do not possess the experience and emotional maturity to deal with high-pressure situations which can result in date rape. The RBFC program places the young woman in "scenarios" which simulate likely situations that occur in their lifestyle. The women are then able to effectively set their boundaries and limits for inappropriate attention/behavior. Setting these boundaries BEFOREHAND is of utmost importance. Attempting to decide upon the "rules", while in the middle of a highly emotional confrontation, is far too confusing and is most often unsuccessful. With firm limits in place, the young woman merely enforces what she has already decided upon. She may draw upon a "menu" of skills, whether verbal or physical, to avoid trouble situations.
This program has been highly successful when mothers and daughters attend together. The stimulation of supportive communication and the open atmosphere about sensitive matters create a setting where each participant develops a PERSONAL PROTECTION PLAN.

The carefully designed progressive nature of our self-defense training has also been successful in helping many clients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Those who have been victims of rape and/or assault have discovered new confidence and ability to handle stress through participation in RBFC training. RBFC has a PhD psychologist on staff as an assistant instructor who constantly monitors the content of our curriculum and its effects on clients. Through our familiarization with traditional methods of treatment for PTSD, we have incorporated several vitally important concepts and techniques into our curriculum which can bring the client much closer to their goals. Because of our commitment to personal attention, RBFC can provide the proper environment and training structure to assist individuals facing a wide variety of emotional and psychological challenges.

The RBFC Self-Defense for Men program prepares the client for the reality of a violent attack. When a man is attacked, the goal of the attack is most often to severely injure the victim (as opposed to the goal of a compliant female victim in male vs. female attacks). Therefore, RBFC training focuses on avoidance of injury, and swift, economical retaliation. As in all our training, SAFE ESCAPE from the situation is the primary goal. You will learn techniques which prepare you for the common ways fights start, and how to neutralize those threats. You will become familiar with many common "moves" used by streetfighters, and how to quickly end a confrontation. You will also practice talking your way out of a fight, and learn to recognize the signs of impending violence before it happens. Clients completing the course achieve a solid foundation of easily-remembered techniques and develop strategies which cover the entire spectrum of typical street attacks.

| RBFC recognizes the importance of a working knowledge of weapons and their use. The deployment and use of impact weapons, edged weapons, firearms, and improvised weapons are covered, with an emphasis on the individual client's profession and/or needs. Weapons defense/disarms is an important part of our curriculum. A vast majority of criminal assaults involve the use of weapons, and surviving the confrontation makes an understanding of weapons defensive tactics imperative.
The distances involved in most criminal assaults is very close. At this range, simply having a weapon is not the answer. Being able to survive the initial attack, re-orient oneself to the situation, and produce a weapon for use from its carry position are all important steps in a successful outcome. Clients learn how to access their weapon under the demanding conditions of close-quarter hand-to-hand fighting, often having to defend/disarm against the attacker's weapon first. This focus on realistic assault more thoroughly prepares the client for the "unfair" conditions under which most criminal assaults occur.
